First of all you have to compare horses to horses. When I give this little survival compass 5 stars I'm not comparing it to the sort of kit most people would normally use. Those compasses cost anywhere from $100 to $200.
For that sort of money you get accuracy and probably a good working temperature range. This little compass isn't all that accurate. Side by side with a couple of more expensive Silva compasses I noticed it was a couple of degrees out. I haven't used it in extreme weather conditions but I imagine it could struggle with the cold and the heat as well. But it is reasonably durable, fits nicely onto the wrist band a Casio G-Shock Mudman watch and gives a good idea of where North is. That's all I want from it so it gets 5 stars.
