Based on the USMC issue pouch they were designed to carry your standard 1 quart (0.95 litres) US canteen. Dual MOLLE straps allow the pouch to be attached to belts, combat vests and packs. 

The design includes an adjustable top flap with quick-release buckle closure. Both the flap and inside of the pouch have a hook & loop strip so you can fold the flap inwards and rely on the elastic openings retention as a option. The bottom of the pouch has a large mesh area for any  leaks. Alternatively this could be used to store clothing you need to air out while on the move such as socks, wet weather gear or the likes. A great, versatile pouch for your hiking and hunting needs.
