Developed for military, field and outdoor use, the RECON GS2™ R3 Gen II combines durable technical fabrics, lightweight Thermolite™ insulation and a compact compression system.

The mummy-shaped design features a protective storm flap, shaped hood, reinforced foot area and central two-way zip. At approximately 1.35 kg, it is a practical sleeping bag for camping, hiking, vehicle kits, emergency preparedness and field operations where packed size and durability matter.

Temperature Rating Information

The manufacturer identifies −5°C as this sleeping bag’s extreme temperature rating. An extreme rating is a survival-based limit and must not be treated as a normal or comfortable sleeping temperature. the copper mannequin method was used to test this bags ratings in Australia. 

No separate comfort rating has been supplied for this model. Your actual warmth will depend on the weather, wind exposure, shelter, sleeping mat, clothing, physical condition and whether you naturally sleep warm or cold.what you have eaten and drank.

Getting the Best Performance

• Always use an insulated sleeping mat or equivalent ground barrier.
• Use the sleeping bag inside an appropriate tent, shelter or bivvy bag.
• Select a campsite protected from wind chill and exposed conditions.
• Wear clean, dry base layers, warm socks and a beanie when required.
• Avoid alcohol and heavy meals before retiring to the sleeping bag this lowers body temperature.
• Keep the sleeping bag dry and allow it to air after use.
  Choose a warmer model if you naturally sleep cold, ie our RECON 4 .

Water-Resistance Information

The lower shell and reinforced foot area have a PU 2000 mm waterproof finish to help protect against damp ground and wet boots.

This does not make the complete sleeping bag waterproof. In rain or consistently wet conditions, it must be used inside a suitable waterproof shelter or sleeping-bag cover/bivvi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is −5°C the comfort temperature?

No −5°C as the extreme rating. It should cannot be treated as a recommended temperature for routine or comfortable sleeping in generalas everybody sleeps diffrently. 

Is the sleeping bag completely waterproof?

No. The lower shell and foot area have a PU waterproof finish, but the complete sleeping bag is not waterproof. Use it inside a suitable shelter or bivvy bag in wet conditions.

Can it accommodate a person wearing boots?

The foot area is reinforced to help limit damage from boots. However, removing wet or heavily soiled footwear will normally provide better sleeping comfort and help keep the inside clean and dry.

Does it include a compression sack?

Yes. A 210D nylon Oxford spider-style compression sack is included.

What is the internal pocket designed for?

The small internal pocket can hold compact personal items such as a phone, identification, small flashlight or other essentials.
