Inspired by the traditional canvas rucksacks carried by travellers, explorers and adventurers of an earlier era, the RECON GS2™ EXPLORER™ Heritage Rucksack combines timeless expedition styling with the organisation and practicality required for modern everyday use.
Constructed from heavy-duty waxed canvas with Crazy Horse leather detailing, the EXPLORER™ has the rugged, characterful appearance that belongs naturally within The Kit Bag Golden Age of Adventure™ Collection. The waxed canvas provides useful water resistance while developing its own individual patina and character through regular use.
The traditional flap-and-drawstring main compartment is complemented by leather buckle straps and quality metal hardware, creating the unmistakable appearance of a classic travelling rucksack.
Behind that heritage exterior, however, is a thoroughly practical modern carry system.
The spacious main compartment provides plenty of room for everyday essentials, travel equipment, books, clothing and personal gear, while a dedicated padded-style sleeve accommodates most laptops up to 15 inches.

Waxed canvas and Crazy Horse leather are chosen partly because of the way they develop character with use. Natural variations, marks, creases and changes in tone are part of the heritage appearance of these materials rather than imperfections. Over time, each rucksack will develop its own individual patina.

Is the rucksack waterproof?
The waxed canvas exterior is water resistant and provides useful protection against light rain and everyday weather. It should not be considered fully waterproof or suitable for prolonged immersion or extended exposure to heavy rain.
Will it fit a laptop?
Yes. The internal laptop compartment is designed to accommodate most laptops up to approximately 15 inches. Laptop dimensions vary between manufacturers, so we recommend checking your device dimensions against the rucksack measurements before ordering.
Is the leather genuine leather?
Yes. The pack uses Crazy Horse leather detailing, selected to complement the traditional waxed canvas construction.
Will the canvas and leather change appearance over time?
Yes. This is part of the character of heritage materials. Waxed canvas and Crazy Horse leather can develop creases, tonal variations, marks and a natural patina through use.
Is this suitable for everyday use?
Absolutely. Although inspired by traditional expedition and travelling rucksacks, the internal laptop storage and multiple organizational pockets make it equally suitable for commuting, university, travel and everyday carry.
Is it suitable for hiking and camping?
Yes. Its durable construction and useful carrying capacity make it suitable for general hiking, camping, travelling and outdoor activities, as well as everyday use.
